THE CECCHETTI SOCIETY TRUST

 THE CECCHETTI SOCIETY TRUST ANNUAL STUDY BURSARY FOR TEACHERS IN SOUTH AFRICA IMPORTANT INFORMATION INCLUSION OF LICENTIATE LEVEL FOR TEACHER STUDY BURSARY IN SOUTH AFRICA
Members have already been informed that The Cecchetti Society Trust UK, has generously made an annual Study Bursary available to teachers in South Africa who wish to progress their teaching qualification to the highest level. The Cecchetti Society Trust has decided to add the Licentiate level to the CSSA Teacher Study Bursary. Priority will be given to Fellowship and Enrico Cecchetti Diploma applicants, should Licentiate applications be received at the same time as Fellowship and Diploma applications. At the discretion of an appointed Bursary Selection Panel, a bursary may be shared or granted to more than one applicant. 2024 LICENTIATE BURSARY APPLICATIONS
  • The application closing date is customarily 1 st December for training to be undertaken in the following academic year.
  •  Since no applications for Fellowship or Enrico Cecchetti Diploma levels were received by the above date, The Cecchetti Society Trust invites bursary applications for Licentiate examinations to be undertaken in 2024.
  • The application form and terms & conditions are available directly from CSSA HQ.
  • Applications will be reviewed by an appointed bursary selection panel.
  • The total monetary value of the Bursary is fixed by the Trust each year and can be used for tuition fees, or the examination entry fee, or partly both.
  • The total value of the Teacher Study Bursary is £1200 GBP [Approx. R28,000 ZAR]. CLOSING DATE FOR 2024 LICENTIATE APPLICATIONS Completed application forms should be submitted to the CSSA Council of Management no later than Monday 29 April 2024.
The Council of Management expresses gratitude to The Cecchetti Society Trust for the magnanimous financial assistance offered to CSSA teachers and, likewise, thanks Ms. Diane van Schoor for her efforts on behalf of the South African membership.

1. CSSA NATIONAL ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2024

Date: Saturday 18 May 2024.
Location: Johannesburg
Venue: Carus Gardens, 34 2nd Avenue, Linden, Johannesburg
Time: 14h30.

2. CHANGE OF DATE ANATOMY PAPER I & II
  • Examination date: Sunday 3 November 2024.
  • Application forms are available from Headquarters.
  • Closing date of entry: 30 June 2024.
  • Entry fee: Contact HQ
3. REGIONAL & NATIONAL COURSES

It is incumbent on Members to attend Regional and National courses in the interests of professional development, and for increasing skills, knowledge, and experience beyond the member’s initial training. 

Members should attend all courses which are offered, not just the levels at which the member is currently teaching. 

4. CSSA INFORMATION DIRECTIVE

The CSSA Information Directive is in the process of being updated. Members will be notified once the document is ready. 

5. EXAMINATION DOCUMENTS & SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS

In terms of POPIA & DATA PROTECTION, candidates’ examination certificates, artistic examination reports and mark sheets are not permitted to be posted on social media. 

6. CSSA MAGAZINE

The CSSA Magazine is uploaded to the CSSA website and available to paid-up members. 

7. PAYMENT OF ANNUAL SUBSCRIPTIONS 

Annual payments should be received by the CSSA HQ administration no later than 31 March. 

8. LATE REMITTANCE OF SUBSCRIPTIONS & NON-ACCEPTANCE OF EXAMINATION ENTRIES 

Regional secretaries are not permitted to accept examination entries from members whose membership subscription is received later than 31 March.

9. ASSOCIATE TRAINEES

Associate trainees are required to state the name of the mentoring teacher when ordering stock from HQ.  

10. CHANGE OF PERSONAL DETAILS

In the event of changes to personal details, the member concerned should notify all of the following: CSSA National Headquarters, the appropriate Regional Branch Secretary, and The ISTD Membership department.

11. RESULTS OF THE CYRIL BEAUMONT BURSARY AWARD COMPETITION 2023

The finalists of 2023 Cyril Beaumont competition were Meghan Klynveld (student of Karen Koen-Jooste, Cape Town); Lara Resente (student of Natali Roos/Elesia Ceronio, Pretoria) and Mizele Terre’Blanché (student of José Pretorius, Johannesburg). 

The winner of the Cyril Beaumont Award was Megan Klynveld.

12. SELECTED COMPETITORS FOR THE 2024 CICB COMPETITION

The following dancers were selected, by audition process, to represent South Africa at the CICB Competition in 2024:

Lila Numanoglu, Junior Division.
Kyra Steyn, Junior Division.
Meghan Klynveld, Senior Division.

Best wishes to the competitors and their mentors in the competition ahead. 

13. CECCHETTI INTERNATIONAL CLASSICAL BALLET COMPETITION – 2024

Competition Hosts: Cecchetti Council of America (CCA).
Location: Hope College, Holland, Michigan, United States of America.
Dates: Saturday 20 July (registration of competitors)– Saturday 27 July 2024, inclusive.
